The Scottish National Solo Piping Championships took place
last week in Edinburgh, and Wick was represented by Jack Cowan and Laura Mennie,
both of them pupils of Bobby Coghill, Pipe Major of Wick RBLS pipe band. This was
the very first time that Pipe Major Coghill had entered any of his pupils into
such a prestigious competition. Nevertheless, against extremely stiff
competition, Laura and Jack (who are also North Highland Juvenile Band members)
brought home silver and bronze medals.
