HALL CLEANING This months cleaners are – 4th May Vida 18th May - Rachel, Helen, David The first person on the list is the contact person for organising the cleaning date. If you are not available for the date allocated organise a stand in and let the first person know. FRIDAY 2nd MAY There is a Tower on Friday 2/5/08 7.15 for 7.45pm, there is also a show in the hall that night when the annual raffle will be drawn. Could playing members get back to the hall from the Tower asap. The band will be put on in the second half of the show. With the petrol crisis there may not be many visitors around that day so please try and persuade as many people to come as possible. Raffle tickets should be returned before Friday 2/5/08 if possible. GENERAL MEETING There will be a General Meeting held in the hall on Wednesday 28th May starting at 7.30pm, practice will follow. AGENDA 1. Apologies for Absence 2. Alteration to Constitution at 7 Senior Ranks, delete “to hold office until the end of the next Annual General Meeting”, substitute “to hold office until the end of the committee meeting held the following September at which the Senior Ranks are appointed or reappointed” 3. 2008 Pipe Band Week 4. Scottish Variety Shows 5. Possible Massed Bands September 2008 6. Massed Bands 2009 7. Any Other Business All Playing and Associate Members are asked to attend. Jim & Sheila Collie Jim and Sheila will be returning to the Aberdeen area this summer after many years in Wick. They have been great supporters of Scottish music in general and the pipe band in particular. They are having a farewell ceilidh in the Town & county Club, Back Bridge street on Friday 9th may and have invited band members to come along – please bring your instruments . They have said that they do not want gifts but there will be an opportunity to donate to charities of their choice at the ceilidh if you wish. PIPING RECITAL Caithness & North Sutherland Piping Society are holding a piping recital in the Park Hotel, Thurso on Saturday 10th May starting at 8.15pm, admission costs £6 or £1 for under 18s. The soloist is Niall Matheson who was one of the tutors at the recent piping college at Carbisdale. CLAN SINCLAIR EVENT, NOSS HEAD The band has been invited to play for guests at a Clan Sinclair event at Noss Head Lighthouse on Tuesday 27th May, meet at the Pipe Band Hall at 6.45pm for initial tuning and sharing cars (note the band’s appearance is meant to be a surprise for the guests!). The band will play for a short while and then be invited to share the barbecue and have a drink, then the band will play again. A good turnout of members is requested as there is the potential to make some very good contacts for the band at this event in addition to the fee that will be paid for the appearance. |
